I decided to make a change to Will I Succeed. It’s a rather big one in regards to what the goal of the site is. Namely, it was to track me reaching seven specific goals. I reduced that list from seven down to three. At the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to quit my nine-to-five in order run my own empire. That goal has not changed. But I decided to reduce this list to three because, after looking over the seven goals, I decided that I was getting a little to personal and I’m not very comfortable with that. So I decided, I want to only highlight the goals that are big to me that I don’t mind sharing. For details on those goals, check out the success page. Here is what the new goals are:
- Pay off debts
- Move into a bigger home
- Quit my nine-to-five to run my own empire
Another Big Idea Popped Into My Head
That’s that. Now let’s shift topics. Ideas keep coming into my head. I have an idea I came up with over the weekend. I really wish I could share it you but I don’t want you stealing my idea. No offense. I love you, but… you understand. I believe this is idea, literally, is worth 10s or 100s of millions of dollars. It’s an idea that is original. There’s nothing really like it out there. It started out with a basic idea I came up with as I was driving my kids around. Both were asleep. So I was able to think with a clear mind. I started formulating more about this idea. How it would work and how it would make money. I told my wife about this idea and she got really excited about it as well. Anyways, I feel bad telling you I have this amazing idea and not telling you what it is. So I’ll at least say this much about it to let you know what I’m doing but not spilling the beans. It’s a social network with a twist. What that twist is, obviously, I’m not going to say.
My Only Concern With Bubble
Now I’ve been using Bubble which has been a Godsend to me and I’m pretty sure I could implement this social network idea with Bubble. Now I love Bubble. But my only concern with the platform is the following. Let’s say I build and launch this idea with Bubble. It starts bringing in millions of dollars in revenue. Bubble, for some reason, fails. The company goes under. What happens to my site? I don’t have access to the code and they also host my site. So, as you can imagine, these are two huge concerns I have of running a profitable business on this platform. Call my crazy, but for some reason, I could see this company getting bought out by a big name such as Amazon or Google.
Here Is My First Idea That Is Coming Soon
Bubble has really been helping me to turn my first idea into reality, sooner than later. I decided that I’m now going to tell you what that first idea is. The first idea is… drum roll please… WhereToCompete.com. Now I already own this website. It’s up in production with nothing really happening. I actually made this site a few years back using Joomla and a plug in I purchased for event management. I was getting traffic to it for a while. I reached out to a lot of promoters about it and had some of them posting events on the site. But I failed to keep the site up-to-date and reach out to more promoters to let them know of the site. Needless-to-say, nobody has posted any events on this site in a long time.
But that will change. Where To Compete is getting a complete makeover. This time around, I’m building it. Once launched, I will be reaching out, personally, to many promoters of many sports to let them know the site exists and that I want it to be the go-to place for finding competitions near you.
How I Came Up With The Idea For Where To Compete
I came up with the idea back when I was competing in BJJ tournaments. I remember Googling around for BJJ tournaments near me. That made me think to create my own site to promote BJJ events. Then I thought, why not promote other competitive events and make this a go-to site for finding competitive events?
Why I’m Deciding to Rebuild It
I decided on Where To Compete as my first project for a few reasons. First, I wanted something I could create that would be 100% free. This way I’m not processing any payments (which adds more complexity to the site). Any income I make can be earned through advertising. Second, it seems like the easiest one to develop. It’s really not to complex of a website. It’s basically a directory of upcoming competitive events. Finally, I decided on this idea because I believe it’s one with a lot of potential to gain a big audience of people.
So hopefully, I’ll be able to launch it and share it with you sometime within the next couple weeks. This will be my first app I’ve developed and put into production. This will definitely make it the site I’m most proud of. My other sites such as BizOppReviews and ProBlogResources are great but they are, essentially, WordPress blogs with plugins I used for specific needs. I’m still proud of these sites (which means I should probably dedicate some more time to them). But this one is different. I’m developing it. Which makes it one-of-a-kind and to me, that will be very fulfilling.
